South Jersey Drain Cleaning Services

Let’s talk about drain cleaning. Why do drains clog? What can be done to prevent it? In most populated areas, there are sewer systems that safely carry sewage away from where people live for cleanliness reasons. Before we had running water and sewage, health issues related to sewage were a problem in society. Today, private septic systems and city sewer systems have improved the quality of human lives and length of life people are living.

Having functioning building drains and sewers outside is essential for every building and structure. Whether you have 70,000 football fans in one building or one person in a small house, functioning plumbing is necessary. One major issue plumbers and drain cleaning experts deal with routinely is drain and sewer clogs.

When this happens in a commercial building or residential home it can often cause a lot of damage quickly, and become a serious health concern. In addition, while the clog is present and backing up, it can be a major inconvenience for a home or a business trying to operate. When these issues and emergencies arise, people need a quick solution to unclog the pipes and minimize damage.

Main sewer lines clog and there are many reasons for this. There’s are a few common reasons that we see often. The first problem we see daily is roots. The roots are usually a result of some type of compromise in a sewer pipe. For roots to get into the pipe, there is some type of opening for them to get in. This also means there is a way for sewage to be leaking.

With properly drain cleaning equipment, the roots can be partially removed. This is a great solution until the proper pipe repairs can be made. If the piping is not properly repaired, roots will continue to grow back and cause the line to clog.

The second most common issue we see is things being placed in the sewer that should not be. Feminine products, hand wipes, and paper towels are some of the most common things we remove from drains and sewers.

A third problem we see often is the result of issues with the piping. The issues could be the piping is old and out of service life, broken, not installed properly with many other possible issues.

One of the most common clogs in buildings and homes are kitchen sink clogs. There are multiple reasons kitchen sinks clog. The first most common reason is that the piping is improperly installed. We often see a poor installation of piping result in slow draining, and the line to be continually problematic until the piping is installed properly.

The second most common reason we see is abuse. People think that because they have a garbage disposal it is good to put just about any object in the disposal. The disposal is a convenience, but intentionally letting larger or solid things go down the piping can cause build up and clogs.

The third most common issue we see with kitchen sinks (commercial and residential) is the grease and oil build up on the inside of the piping. Although is it not easy to avoid greases and oils going down the drains, it’s wise to allow the least amount possible going down to help the piping.
